What Rocky collects, why it is used, and the choices you have. No mystery holds.
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Overview
Rocky is an indoor climbing app. You can use Rocky to create an account, save a profile, choose gyms, capture wall photos, mark route holds, log sends, share beta, and join climbing sessions. This policy explains what Rocky collects, why it is used, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Account information: email address, user ID, display name, handle, profile details, home gym, and authentication session data.
- Climbing profile information: grade range, height, ape index, avatar, bio, pronouns, projects, sends, attempts, follows, blocks, and reports.
- Gym and route information: gyms you add or edit, gym locations, route grades, wall details, route holds, route colors, sessions, and related activity.
- Photos, videos, and scan data: wall photos, optional send videos, route hold annotations, generated masks, scan status, and optional depth metadata on supported devices.
- Feedback and support information: messages you send through feedback or reporting tools, plus context such as app version, platform, and screen.
- Diagnostics: crash reports, performance data, logs, and technical metadata when diagnostics are enabled.
- Local app data: Rocky stores app-specific state on your device, such as recent gyms and your Supabase auth session, to keep the app working between launches.
How We Use Information
- Provide, secure, and improve Rocky.
- Authenticate your account and sync your app session.
- Process wall photos, detect holds, deduplicate climbs, and generate personalized beta.
- Show your profile, routes, sends, sessions, and community interactions to the people who should be able to see them.
- Respond to feedback, troubleshoot bugs, prevent abuse, and enforce safety rules.
Sharing and Service Providers
Rocky does not sell your personal information. Rocky uses service providers to run the app, including hosting, database, authentication, storage, maps/place search, error monitoring, and AI/image processing providers. These providers process information only as needed to provide Rocky. Some Rocky content may be visible to other users depending on the feature, such as public profiles, climbs, beta, sends, sessions, reports reviewed for safety, and gyms added to the shared gym directory.
Photos, Videos, and AI Processing
When you upload wall photos or videos, Rocky may process them to identify holds, analyze route geometry, create route fingerprints, generate beta, and improve scan quality. If your device supports depth capture and you use that feature, Rocky may store depth files and depth metadata connected to the wall photo. Do not upload photos or videos that you do not have permission to use.
Retention and Deletion
Rocky keeps information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve the service.
You can request account deletion in Rocky under You → Account. Rocky immediately disables the account and schedules private-data and sign-in cleanup. Shared climbing records and safety reports may remain under a deleted identity with profile details removed. Cleanup can continue in the background after you are signed out.
If you cannot access the app, contact privacy@getrocky.app.
Your Choices
- You can choose whether to grant camera and photo library permissions.
- You can update profile details in the app.
- You can sign out from the account screen.
- You can delete your account under You → Account, or request privacy help by emailing privacy@getrocky.app.

Rocky is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to Rocky, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
